Community Organizations
As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we see community organizations as partners whose mission is aligned with ours.
As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we see community organizations as partners whose mission is aligned with ours.
Because Three Roots raises most of our capital from partner banks, we have strong relationships with several banks, understanding their credit profiles and industry preferences, etc. Our community organization partners benefit from the “one stop” access to multiple sources of capital, as well as the CDFI benefits that can “change the economics” of projects such that financing can be accomplished.
Many community organizations possess leadership with strong experience in finance. Some do not and benefit greatly from advice, incentives, and connections provided through Three Roots. Additionally, as discussed below, some of the tax benefits available involve processes unique to those programs, and Three Roots’ expertise and connections enable a developer to leverage programs new to them.
Three Roots focuses on impacting communities through job creation, placemaking facilities and community facilities. Often these projects are large and can be more difficult to finance, as they are larger than many single banks are willing to invest in an individual project. This is where Three Roots’ ability to syndicate the project among two or more banks provides our community organization partners with more choices in financing options to fund their projects.
As previously stated, Three Roots Capital is a certified CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) as well as a CDE (Community Development Entity). These certifications enable Three Roots to bring various state and federal tax benefits to projects, and communities. Some of the tax programs can be quite complex. Part of the value Three Roots brings to our partners is that we have invested in the resources necessary to effectively leverage these programs. With Three Roots Capital our community organization partners don’t just get a “qualifying opportunity/incentive”, they get a qualified and capable partner to successfully execute on projects that can be complex while having great impact on a community.
If you are a community organization contemplating a large project and are interested in exploring a partnership with Three Roots Capital, we would love to meet you. Please reach out to us by contacting:
