Business Owners, Operators, and Entrepreneurs impact communities. They are the spark plugs in the engine that is our economy. Our capital resources are fuel and our advisory services are the pit crew.
Because Three Roots raises most of our capital from partner banks, we have strong relationships with several banks, understanding their credit profiles and industry preferences, etc. We also have resources and connections in the area of equity investing. Business owners, operators and entrepreneurs benefit from the “one stop” access to multiple sources of capital. Watch the video below to see how Three Roots helped one business owner make it through a tough period.
Many of our business owners/operators are very experienced. Some are less experienced and benefit greatly from advice and connections provided by Three Roots. We provide a broad range of advisory service from understand and preparing for credit underwriting, to structuring or evaluating proposed terms in an equity investment offering. Additionally, as discussed below, some of the tax benefits available involve processes unique to those programs, and Three Roots’ expertise and connections enable a business owner/operator to leverage programs new to them.
Three Roots focuses on impacting communities through job creation, placemaking facilities and community facilities. Often these projects are large and can be more difficult to finance, as they are larger than many single banks are willing to invest in an individual project. This is where Three Roots’ ability to syndicate the project among two or more banks provides our business owners/operators with more choices in financing to fund their projects.
As previously stated, Three Roots Capital is a certified CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) as well as a CDE (Community Development Entity). These certifications enable Three Roots to bring various state and federal tax benefits to our development partners, projects, and communities. Some of the tax programs can be quite complex, which is part of the value Three Roots brings to our partners, as we have invested in the resources necessary to effectively leverage these programs. With Three Roots Capital our business owners/operators don’t just get a “qualifying opportunity/incentive”, they get a qualified and capable partner to successfully execute on projects that can be complex while having great impact on a community.
Three Roots staff have been part of the regional entrepreneurial community for nearly twenty years. Training, advising, investing in, and helping entrepreneurs start and grow companies is a large part of our experience and DNA. As Three Roots Capital, our primary role focuses on access to capital. We have held educational sessions around general access to capital in our Rise And Grind sessions, as well as a specific series of sessions and videos on “Financing My Business”. To access this content, use the “Education” tab on the top tool bar or choose one of the links below.
